Hey Jonny, I'm glad you'll be joining us! It'll be another great week I'm sure :-)

Last year Dorian Iten and Juan Pablo traveled from Europe. I know they purchased some of their supplies in Amherst and shared others. That is an option. When the list of supplies comes out it will be pretty extensive. Don't freak out because you won't need all that is listed.

There's also a Michael's in the area so you can get supplies there, too if someone has a car handy.

Don't lug Masonite along unless you have a brand you really can't live without. :) A local hardware store has 1/8" and 1/4" masonite and it's fine and cheap. Likewise, there are reasonably-priced painting and drawing supplies in town in student-to-mid grades. If you're a professional and use high-end materials, by all means bring them, but you can get adequate stuff here for most of what you'd need.

I live in town, and if anybody wants to just ship stuff to my home, I'll be happy to bring it down on the first day.

Thanks for the info Steve! I'll probably wait until i get there for the masonite, and just make sure that i can get it home on the plane (in my suitcase, as Jen did last year, or possibly in a separate package). And i may well take you up on getting some materials shipped to your home!

And Mark, thanks for the info on the board. As far as I can work out, MDF is much more common in our hardware stores. So i'll probably get some masonite in Amherst for the workshop, and the try out MDF over here.

Corina, i think i'm going to try and keep my supplies to a flexible minimum. Hopefully, if i get some practice in before June, i'll have a better idea of what i can and can't live without!

And thanks for the link, Madeline! That looks like another option for getting some paints and mediums when i'm over there.

Jonny, I can tell you exactly what I would not have been able to live without last year. Presuming the class will be similar, it will give you an idea of what you will need.

Brushes
Palette
Paints (as many or as few as you wish)
Liquin (quick drying alkyd medium, helps paint dry over night, also can use Galkyd or other...)
MDF (at least one 16 in x 24, two if you paint fast)
Strathmore 500 100% cotton paper for Donato image transfer method (if you don't use this method, you will need to prime the MDF or masonite with gesso)
Pencils
Acrylic matte medium (if you use Donatos tranfer method)
Laptop (I used it for reference gathering and some basic photoshop manipulation, rooms are wi-fi or network enabled)
Paper for life drawing
Paper Towels
Odorless mineral spirits

There are alternatives to this list, but this is what I used. It may give you a jumping off point. And most of these things can be purchased in town as discussed.
